ABOUT Millennial Direction

Millennial Direction’s (MD) will provide access to employment resources, benefits, and community services to strengthen and help individuals in Prince George County, MD, (and DC Metro area) our goal is to partner with community and faith based organizations, non-profit agencies and government, employers, and private organizations to assist the community’s most susceptible families and individuals to improve the overall quality of their life. Partnering with the stated companies and organizations will allow MD to be updated on the best resources within the community.

The main goal of our current project is to empower individuals in the community to become self-sufficient through education and workforce training development. This project is designed to give residents relevant job skills, without the stress of tuition, in an increasingly competitive work environment as well as address the growing shortage of skilled employees in the green industry.

The three objectives of our project are to:

• Increase the skill level of the entry-level worker and economically disadvantaged residents
• Foster and support coalitions that add value to the workforce system
• Improve relations between potential workers and employers

This project model was developed to overcome the many challenges that currently exist within workforce development. In our area, there are few quality work-based learning opportunities to increase the skill level of the entry-level worker and there is not enough emphasis placed on credentials. Imagine being an unemployed or underemployed worker in our community. There is insufficient information available to help them make career decisions and no uniform means of assessing their current education and skills against the education and skills needed now and in the future. Furthermore, many employers lack the information to analyze what kind of training they need to invest in to help workers become more productive.
